Heard a very good idea , which I think hotel should practice.
If u are in the hotel line , u would know electricity usage are the most "waste" expenses.
Almost all of the hotel are using the key card sensor. Was a brilliant idea, the purpose of having this key card system , one of the reasons are to swift off all of the electrical item in the room, when u leave the room and to achieve energy save.
Be honest , how many of us did remove the card when we are out ?
How many of us would replace it with our membership card ?
How many of us would leave especially the aircon on?
Why we don't border about the "waste" ?
Human behave study, many ppl actually are having a , I would say bad mentality . They would think why I hv to save when I have already pay for it ? Leave the aircon on for an hours or leave it on for 24 hours , u still pay the same amount for the room.
It goes the same to water usage. Shampoo, Tissues, TV , light .... Tower as well, would u request change of towel after every bath ? The answer is :No , if u are at ur own home. The answer would be surprisingly yes , when they stay in hotels. Although lot of hotels especially island hotels, they encourage less tower , shampoo , body bath usage but still consumers do not practice.
The speaker said : the hotel should actually encourage energy in a new way .
They should install a electricity usage sensor at each room and centralize to the management .
1st The management should study on normal usage per room. Set a normal usage.
2nd the management can read how much of electricity has been used in your room during ur stay.
3rd if u are able to use less then normal usage . The management will pay u back what have u saved.
Example : u are paying RM 500 per room per night. Include 500v usage. So the 1st day u has consume let say only 450v , and u saved 50v and this 50v = x ringgit , then the hotel will refund u x ringgit when u check out .
Below are my personal view.
Ref to the example above, the hotel can always make it as a point form. Such like membership . What ever u saved will bring deduction to ur next stay. U will pay less on next stay , accumulated till certain points can redeem a free night stay .
Maybe the point can be transfer as discount , for in-house restaurant , in-house spa ...... This will create 2 way traffic, sales opportunity to ur in-house business. Why not ?
Membership always encourage return clients, create royalty.
I think non of the hotels are having this concept, I believe if this really practice in any of the hotel, it will create good returns of publicity.
